In this months workshop we will be focusing on the power of the breath which is the simplest means of managing stress. We will strengthen the Lung and Large Intestine meridian. Both meridians have the capacity to support the other for the highest health of the whole body. According to Eastern Medicine, when the lungs are congested or achy with flu, exercises for the large intestine can help shift sickness into balance. Conversely, when the colon or Large Intestine Meridian is stagnant or sore, deep breathing can ignite stronger digestion and elimination. Weakened digestion can lead to skin problems such as acne and emotional symptoms such as being unable to let go - physically, mentally and emotionally. You will gain an awareness of how you can improve your physical and emotional awareness in order to improve your overall wellbeing to maintain optimum health.
For centuries, Chinese Medicine and Yin Yoga have brought gifts of wisdom to enable students to deeply understand and heal their bodies. By gaining an understanding of the physical and energetic workings of the body, we are able to use this kind of information to change habitual tendencies and emotional/physical symptoms.
Using longer held, passive floor based postures, we will practice staying in observation rather than reacting, encouraging within ourselves the gift of BEING rather than doing. You will create extra space in both your body and mind as you release deep held tensions and emotions from within. We will also experience pranayama, meditation and deep yoga nidra.
